Dave Kuhns
ATTITUDE CONCEPTS for TODAY
Dave Kuhns has been involved with music for as long as he can remember. He was student conductor of both his high school and college bands and choirs, and general all-around “chair setter-upper” and “stuff carrier” for all of school related groups he belonged to.
During his career as a secondary school educator he was the director of many “championship-quality” bands, orchestras and choirs. He was an officer in the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association. He is an accomplished musician, playing professionally in Los Angeles, and is a widely respected adjudicator and guest conductor.
Since 1989, Dave has been working with Attitude Concepts for Today traveling nationwide speaking to audiences ranging from junior high school students to corporate managers. He specializes in motivation, leadership training and group dynamics. His client list includes some of the finest high school performing groups in America. He is co-founder and primary leadership trainer for the California Leadership Academy, which is recognized as the premier peer leadership education resource for high school performing ensembles in Southern California since its creation in 1990.
He has been a University Supervisor for Northern Arizona University since 1997, responsible for the field supervision and evaluation of NAU’s student teachers in instrumental secondary music in the greater Phoenix Area.
In addition to his activities as a music education consultant, he is currently Assistant Director of Bands at Mountain Ridge High School and resides in Glendale, Arizona with his wife and two daughters.
